I know I have not posted anything in a little bit. Honestly, I’ve been enjoying summer and just taking in each precious day with Little Miss F. Sometimes it is the best thing to just disconnect and take a break from all devices and apps and just get outside and be with your child. For us, this has meant a lot of time traveling with the family. When I travel I notoriously over pack, add a child into the mix and I seriously have a problem. Recognizing this, I knew I needed to create some easy to pack, light for travel fun toddler activities for car trips and small hotel rooms. Who knew that the zipper pouch activity would become one of Little Miss F’s favorites!
I don't know about your children, but Little Miss F loves playing with my wallet. Not the best plan. Wanting to support her interest in zipper pouches and the interesting things they contain while also being smart about my wallet. I decided to offer LMF her own play wallet.
There is a space in our building where residents will drop of belongings they no longer want, but think others might enjoy. The other day my husband came up with this pouch saying, “I thought you’d want to use it for something for LMF.”
Love it when the hubby gets involved in this baby DIY fun!
So--I had a small cache of random cards I was keeping for to reuse (I keep a lot of random items that I think might be great for crafting, or baby DIY.) This collection includes things like used gift cards, metro cards, expired membership cards, and hotel keys.
This pouch was a hit! I took it with us when we were traveling A L L summer! I figured it would be a very portable travel friendly toy. Indeed it has been.
LMF does find the zipper a bit challenging since the canvas is pliable and moves. Using perhaps a stiffer pouch could be supportive. But, I am a firm believer that challenge is a good thing. It teaches our children important life skills such as perseverance, determination, creativity, and ingenuity. To scaffold LMF with this challenge, I will often open the zipper about a half an inch to get her started.
Are you thinking of ways to entertain your toddler on car trips? Much like a busy bag, zipper pouch activity is an easy, portable way to entertain your toddler during car trips, family vacations, or even at home.
